"[T]he answer I chose in the poll had to do with time constraints for videos. If I click on a video and see that it’s a half hour or hour, and especially if I know it’s at a campaign rally where a chunk of that time will be applause and chanting breaks, a transcript makes it much easier and faster to get the meat of the speech. It doesn’t help as much when the speaker is a great orator like Barack Obama and his tone and comedic timing get lost in a dry transcript, but I can skim a transcript and I can’t really skim a video." ~ColoTim
